a poem by Nancy Ellen Crossland, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

In the solitude of silent nights
Where moonlight failed to fill the room,
Shadows of the past and moments lost
Echo in whispered tones
Encompass me in gloom,
Fading in veils of tranquility and unrest
Still a new day murmurs
A chirp, a warble, coo of the dove
A room void of light awakens
Glints of sunlight stir
No more a silent passing
Cease the creaking of painful footsteps
Across the floor.
A new awakening
Not a creature will ignore
With open arms
I embrace it
Not look back in sorrow;
Embraced with hope
