a poem by Lee Emmett, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

on reflection
looking back
we've had a fine time
on the track

on the road
bright and early
leave the city's
hurley burley

(did you know
this was a horse?
found this out on
Wikipedia, of course)

anyway, get back
to the story
of countryside
and Autumn's glory

coffee in Traralgon
dropped in on bank
a little further along
filled petrol tank

then off to Maffra
to see an old mate
home-cooked quiches
and salad on plate

bought some of her art
floral designs
now retired
she's got more time

stop in Heyfield
on the way back
see another mate
off the beaten track

dinner at Oliver's
in Pakenham
soup and curry
(not fast food spam)
