Awakenings

a poem by Nishu Mathur, India

It’s beginning to grow
After breezy April showers
With dust-free leaves
And bright pink flowers
How I waited
Many many moons
With eagerness
For those buds to bloom
Now it’s a sight to behold
Midst new awakenings and birth
The frangipani tree
A gift - a bouquet from earth
