Mother of sorrow

a poem by Charles Fisher, UK

Mother sorrow
Sorrow today
Sorrow yesterday
Your son, knocked,
Out on the canvas floor
Each punch, your son received
Each hurt, your heart bled
Quick, the ambulance came
Quicker, the hospital door open
How quick, did you take the blame?
Your son is in a coma
Sorrowful your heart is;
Oh, what shall tomorrow bring?
Of your aching heart of sorrow
