Screed of trees

a poem by Charles Fisher, UK

Screed of autumn leaves,
At the side of the roads bend;
Like a film screen;
Full of leafy characters,
Of faded green, auburn red
Golden yellow, and light yellow
Play a play of beautiful display
That pleases the dreadful rain;
The car passes by
The leaves on the trees blow
Blow in the rainy breeze
Some leaves start to fall,
As the Autumn calls:
Come, come, it is time to leave,
The screed of trees!
