103rd MUSKETEERS' INSPIRATIONAL TITLE CHALLENGE -RESPONSE TO MOBANI 'TAKE ME BACK TO THE TIME'

a poem by Rita Joyce Singh, India

TAKE ME BACK TO THE TIME

Sometimes the colours of the skies
Turn to soft glow from setting sun
Like a friendship soft-voiced and wise
Reminds me how those days had spun

Sometimes I stop short of some nook
And squeamish think I saw his ghost
Spot doppelgangers of his look
But saner thoughts make quick riposte

Sometimes footfalls or doorbell's chime
I almost hear through silence wend
That takes me back to the good time
Before, to death, we lost a friend

I stare at folks who look like him
Irreparable, his sudden end
On whom death crept upon a whim
I am still looking for that friend

Note: I am duly sorry for this delayed response. There are many, many reasons. Also in September we lost a very dear friend who died suddenly. Mr Rakesh Jaiswal if you look up googles, was a world famous, courageous and persistently fighting environmentalist with many laurels to his credit. Your title was just up my alley. Thank you. Love to all on VN. rita singh.
