a poem by Nishu Mathur, India

She gazed in quiet wonder
At her grandmother's face
Her aged brows faint with time
Cheeks crossed with defining lines
Eyes blurred with cataract
White wispy hair-no trace of black

She said, "Grand mum
I love the stars in your eyes
The white clouds in your hair
(Like an angel's wing - so fair)
I love your laughter lines that dance
And the intricate carving of your hands."

Grand mum sat her down
Held her hand and smiled,
"You love me dearly that I know
And that your heart is pure and true...
But do you know
That all the beauty you see in me
Is but a reflection of you."

Inspired by Rumi.

'The beauty you see in me is a reflection of you'
