THE MOTHER OF PONDICHERRY
In 1926 Aurobindo went into silence,
Himself having reached new heights
As a Supra-mental human being, a force
That ascended to a higher level of existence.
He classified the human mind,
“As the ordinary man’s mind
The Sage’s higher mind,
The Rishi’s super mind,”
“The Yogi’s intuitive mind,
The higher Gods’ over-mind
The Super-mind above the Gods,
But below the spiritual world.”
His yoga does not take a person,
To Moksha, the final stage of one,
But it purifies body, vital and mind
To reach a higher Supra-mental end.
He called, without consulting Mother,
All his disciples there to come closer,
And told them of her new appointment
As the Ashram Head, on his retirement.
From the time Mother took charge,
She had put all her energy to manage
The Ashram’s busy routine duties
To the best satisfaction of devotees.
Mother’s parents were so rich
That she inherited their riches
And maintained all the expenses
On Ashram as well as his works.
Keeping in order material things,
Maintaining a library of books,
Controlling a team of disciples,
Were some of her daily jobs.
In the beginning, she cooked
And served them all good food,
Besides controlling the devotees
From their daily movements.
It was her close supervision
That brought out high discipline
In that well maintained Ashram,
Thus attracting people all the time.
