SHIRDI SAI BABA
In 1917, Sri Appasaheb Kulkarni was
Posted to Thana, where in his house,
He used to worship Sai Baba’s picture,
In the pooja room, with other deities.
On a seven days camp when he went
To Bhivandi a fakir came on a visit
To his house and received rupee one
From his wife in his absence then.
Due to change in the tour program,
Back to Thana, he had to come,
When he heard the news of a fakir,
Who took rupee one from her.
When she told him that the fakir was
More like the picture in their house,
He was feeling sorry for his absence
When Sai Baba visited his place.
He said that he would have given,
Rupees ten, instead of rupee one,
As Baba wasn’t an ordinary man
But a great saint among all men.
Next few days when he went
With his friend in the street
One fakir asked him for money,
And he gave rupee one in charity.
When the fakir asked for more
He gave him rupees three more,
But still, the fakir wasn’t satisfied
And more money he demanded.
Until he gave fakir rupees ten,
The demand for more coins,
The stranger kept on and on,
And went away when it was given.
It was then Kulkarni remembered
His words that he would have given,
Rupees ten and not rupee one,
What his wife gave in his absence.
It was Sai Baba came in disguise
As a fakir to Kulkarni’s house,
To demand from him that rupees ten,
What he offered in place of rupee one.
