Summer BBQ

a poem by Mark Wayne Gittings, UK

The weekend is upon us again
Skies of blue, no room for rain
Barbecue fumes and cold ice beer
Pop music to harmonise the ear

Turning the sausages, flipping the burgers
Not just that, we go a bit further
Chicken drumsticks and baked potatoes
With side salad and spicy Doritos

The beer is going down a treat
While I continue to cook the delicious meat
A great atmosphere with perfect summer weather
With my family, it doesn't get much better
