Flying Monkeys

a poem by Kent Reedy, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

The flying monkeys
Come out at night
Disguised as soldiers
Attacking civilians
Emboldened by their clubs
and other toys
And by their anonymity.

From various bureaus
of violence they come
Not answerable to anyone
Going on a mayhem spree

Like thugs on holiday
Acting out their fantasies
And following the lead
of just one vicious little man
Lazing in the capital.
