Awoken

a poem by Charles Fisher, UK

Awoken
From his nightly sleep
In the first light of the morning;
Outside his bedroom window,
An army of clouds:
In flags of many colours unfurl-
Heading to where?

Whilst the clouds,
Head on
To no ends;
Sleep once again refill his mind

Light of the day:
Starts to unfurl its blue sky
The blue in the sky
Is now
A lighter sunshine blue,
Fills the bedroom with light

Light removes
The blindfold of his sleep
