Now I Lay You Down to Rest

a poem by Sue Williams, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

You never know
what you have
until it's gone.
Every day,
I labor hard,
sweeping cobwebs
and brushing grime.
As I put you
down to rest,
please forgive
my lack of
faithfulness.
For no other
can replace,
the "Hoover" pow'r,
I had in you!

(an ode to a dead vacuum)
