To Jaiden (born 10 weeks premature)

a poem by Melyssa G. Sprott, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

On the day
that angels smiled
I had a miracle—
a perfect child.

Convinced from the beginning
that we were cursed,
I cried and cried
as I feared the worst.

And as the fear
crept up and grew colder,
I felt an angel
touch my shoulder.

I knew then
that all would be fine,
for me and this little
miracle of mine.

Angels in the delivery room
and present in the hall,
proved that a miracle is a miracle
no matter how small.
