Black Sheep

a poem by Melyssa G. Sprott, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

I am cast out—
the blackest sheep.
I’m a pariah
in my own family.

Cursed for the words I say,
suspect for those I keep.
It has always been this way
but why, I just can’t see.

They sow and they sow
yet, it is I who reaps.
Out cast and despised—
the blackest of sheep.
