Dear God

a poem by Melyssa G. Sprott, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Have you no mercy
for those who long to die?
Is there no concern for their pain?
Do you hear them when they cry?

Can you not feel
what this has done to me?
Dear God, please let things turn out
far better than they seem.

I’m not getting any younger
and my time is standing still.
I’d do anything to make him happy,
I swear on my life I will.

Dear God, please bring him back to me
and bring me joy again.
Surely to love someone so completely,
cannot be a sin.
