It is I, the Devil

a poem by Melyssa G. Sprott, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

I can be passion
and paradise.
Sweet like candy,
sugar and spice.

That’s when I’m happy,
but when I’m not—
I am the devil,
known as Sprott.

I can be naughty
or I can be nice.
Whether I’m impulsive,
or if I think twice.

I can be an angel,
but I’d rather not.
I am the devil,
known as Sprott.

I can be enchanting
and rather haunting,
but I prefer to bring chaos
and to be daunting.

I’ll turn out to be
nothing like you thought.
I am the devil,
known as Sprott.
