Misery Loves Company

a poem by Melyssa G. Sprott, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

I bring something—follow me…
I carry it so quietly.
If you watch then you will see,
I am walking misery.

If you follow, I will lead.
On your torment I will feed,
though you will cry and you will plead.
You will give me what I need.

The world will know my evil plight.
Try all you want with all your might,
you’ll give in, I’ll win the fight.
I’ll put out your candlelight.

I bring something—now you see,
you carry it along with me.
It’s true and apparently
misery loves company.
