How Will You Love Me?

a poem by Lila Joseph, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

You will love me with words that
dash against my heart as sleet
against a wall of glass.

Your fire will consume me
as the breath of an angry dragon
going through the grass-lands
In the heat of the summer

I am the juicy fruit
that you will squeeze
between your fingers,
licking my juices
with a parched tongue,
a thirsty paddy at the first
hint of the monsoon.

You will plough my fallow fields
Seeking a diamond to challenge
the “Taj Mahal”
Just to reflect your beauty.
And I?
I will love you forever,
I am woman.
