Let the Rain Touch

a poem by Lila Joseph, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

Let the rain touch
the eyes of the people
blinded by greed
for material things.
Let it wash away the dust,
so that they can see
their neighbour dying

because of the hunger
that she feels.

Let the rain carry
this message, that the world
is using her resources
at an alarming rate,
let the message resound
as thunder,
that the deaf may also hear
and take heed.

Then when the world
sparkles
from all the clear water,
then let the rain
wash away the tears
of those who cry;
because they were born
on the wrong side
of the tracks
whatever that, may signify
