Table Sports

a poem by Sue Williams, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

My fork cannot catch the slimy
pea on my plate.
A beckoning calls to me,
I won’t resist the fight;
the ‘pea fight’ that is.
My foe sits across from me
oh he who drew first blood,
I duck, pea misses, and
splats on the fridge. Laughing
as I sit back up *splat!*,
A green forehead I now sport.
Think that’s funny?
Just wait and see!
Oh, wait, guess you can't see
through icky green
glasses, that now loves my pea!
Mom walks in and spoils the fun,
with making us clean up on her mind,
but it was cool to make this mess,
'til next time, my arch nemesis!
