a poem by Lila Joseph, USA - poetry writer, author, poet

I face the black emptiness
of life without you,
no more shall I feel your soft breath
caressing my cheek
as I watch you smile in dreams
where you wile the night away.

No more shall I bask in your
warm smile
which caused my fluttering
heart to stumble and melt

I face the days that stretch before me
like lonely highways
running without end
towards the horizon
and further

I refuse to look for a reason
to live through the long
swampy, dragging, muddy days
I force myself towards the twilight
when the darkness will hide me again
from the light

Since you left me,
life has no rhyme or reason
I want to lose myself
In the jet-black darkness of misery
without hope, without love without you
