a poem by Phillip Joseph Hussey, UK

Oh dark serene woman
With noble golden physique
Of finely sculptured art
What hand carved
And lo your heart
A seed of goodness
Contained in a silent mortal
Wrapped in mystery
Beneath this crimson sky
Of dawn I see this friend
Through my mind's eye
She, unaware, while
I share this secret
With the wind
Which may blow but
Will never reveal
My concealed affection
So strange to touch
With love unrealized
My soul is left
In a garden of ecstasy
The trees bear
Such painful fruit
What imagery
Yet beauty alone
Cannot abide with it
Whilst my inner self
Cries out both day
And night to you
