STILL MOURNING FOR MY PARENTS

a poem by Geoff G. Turner, Australia - poetry writer, author, poet

I
often
remember
conversations
I had with you. I
wish I could just pick up
the phone and talk to you, but
you’re gone, and only my thoughts
remain. Some nights I cry myself to
sleep, I weep even now at a thought that
will not stay deep within me. History
repeated itself, ten years apart,
leaving me with two marks upon
my heart, never to heal. I
must live with all this pain,
even when I find
true love, fortune,
and have earned
hard won
fame.
