Two Poems from our Fall Poetry Collection

OCTOBER

Author: Thomas Hardy

Poem:
OCTOBER

Haunting morning of frost in my sore toes
Little did I know of this feeling
Getting out of bed to let the dogs out
Misty-looking wood to bring to the fire
Feet too cold to dry or to heat
Breakfast is hot porridge, the Scott's way
With some milk and salt to make me warm inside
Before I go to work by foot
Nice warm feeling to the start of the day

Reincarnation

Author: Tanya Andrews

Poem: Reincarnation

Asunder the leaflet pallots flow
below the rivers deck of gold
trace the beauty
face of glow
back to a time
when winds dont blow
under rocks where hidden trolls roam
in the earth to die and go alone.

A lake of fire a coast ablaze
the fortress spills her mighty wine
for all fishes of the sea to dine.
her deadly candle
burns night and day
miles away
it can be seen
sunset of a third day
of whence she spilt
returns to the earth
from whence she was built.

A mighty kings mouth
her fire lives on
just upon
the horizon
as it fades within
the skies thunderous grin.
