Two Poems from our Family Poetry Collection

EMPTY NEST

Author: Beatrice Boyle

Poem:
EMPTY NEST

  Sounds echoing through the house
of slamming doors
Heavy metal turned up
to a fever pitch
The whirring of
the washing machine
in perpetual motion
Screams of outrage from
warring siblings
The insistent ringing
of the telephone
Dogs barking
Cats hissing
Doorbells chiming
Pillows flying
Babies crying
Oh Lord...WHEN WILL IT EVER STOP!

Oh Lord, who giveth and
taketh away...
The sound of silence
...is deafening today

THY LOVE

Author: Rakhi Babith

Poem: THY LOVE

Sweet be thy things we see
Sweet be thy dreams we share
Sweet be thy words we say
Sweet be thy voice we hear.

Let happiness flush
And let love be thy scent,
Let belief blush
And let trust be thy garment.

Carve me in your heart
With thy love that’s pure,
Swear me none will be sought
And thy love will be clear.

Let our love be never dreary
Nor be our desires.
Let our love be never weary
Nor be our desires.

Let us love
Let us live
Let us be one.
