I STILL REMEMBER….

Author: Sana Waqas

Poem:
I STILL REMEMBER….

  Road journeys are always fascinating,
But not as joyful as they used to be in the childhood;

I still remember the beauty of the lush green grass spread across the roads,
And the wheat fields which used to mesmerize me in my childhood;

I still remember the green trees dancing to the tunes of wind,
And the flashy flowers which made me smile in my childhood;

I still remember the hustle and bustle on the roads,
And the running cars which used to excite me in my childhood;

I still remember the drizzle making everything so pure,
And the rainbow which made me exuberant in my childhood;

I still remember the scorching heat of the summers,
And the heat coming through the windows which used to agitate me in my childhood;

I still remember the stop-overs we had during the journey,
And the sight of snacks which made me more hungry in my childhood;

I still remember the little fights I had with my siblings,
And the words of our parents which used to calm us in our childhood;

I still remember the little games we played,
And the songs which made us grin in our childhood;

I still remember the passing cottages along the road,
And the cattle which used to terrify me in my childhood;

I Still Remember the joy felt during the journeys,
And the arrival of destination which made me unhappy in my childhood……

Recipe for Rainer

Poem: Recipe for Rainer

we made a recipe
your dad and me
a rose for puckered lips
and dappled sunlight
to dimple your cheeks
for feet and hair
we added springs
that may be why you
do funny things
like bounce endlessly
and say "go in the bin"
keeping beat on the drum
flashing your cheeky grin
with your moonlit pond eyes
and your 'joi de vive'
the most nourishing feast
for your dad and me
