Recipe for Rainer

Author: Meriki Fraser \ parkinson

Poem:
Recipe for Rainer

  we made a recipe
your dad and me
a rose for puckered lips
and dappled sunlight
to dimple your cheeks
for feet and hair
we added springs
that may be why you
do funny things
like bounce endlessly
and say "go in the bin"
keeping beat on the drum
flashing your cheeky grin
with your moonlit pond eyes
and your 'joi de vive'
the most nourishing feast
for your dad and me

Too much meaning

Author: Meriki Fraser \ parkinson

Poem: Too much meaning

for all I miss & wonder
for all that life's uncovered
THIS LUMP in my throat is forming
tears in my eyes are welling

my hands begin to shake
my heart can hardly take the ache
it's not the way it's meant to be
a child's heart should grow freely

and it can only be a dream
it can't keep me from my feelings
can't believe what's real
it's covered in too much meaning
too much meaning
