Two Poems from our Funerals Poetry Collection

Remember

Author: Katherine Hill

Poem:
Remember

  A thousand pounds of rain,
A music beat of rhythm.
Grey and white
A river flow of pain

Relentless

Dark clouds rule the horizon,
Sorrow upon us
Puddles of wept tears,
Soar down dry cheeks.

Overflow

Numb of pain,
Frozen in the body
Release. Release
An arm around the shoulders

Comfort

A shoulder to lean on,
A shared burden
The beginning of grief closing
Memories remain.

That which remains

Author: John Guardia

Poem: That which remains

It was when the days were grey that
your shine did block out the rain

Our hearts and minds did follow in stead
toward the peace that you had fed

Now it is the hourglass that remains

We follow the scent that others now wear

No need to ask from where it came

For the sand will rise to the top again
