Two Poems from our Funerals Poetry Collection

A CUTE FUNERAL

Author: Dennis Wilson

Poem:
A CUTE FUNERAL

  I see a photo
some kind of look a like
remaining here
until the population beckons
to arise
become more room
unearth
what has been buried

I walk atop
over your tombstone
sit on the grass
till the wind hikes up my skirt
pull up my white socks
and matching shoes
remember
how you try to kiss me
even now
i never let you
for fear i would lose you

Closing my car door
i look down at the ground
once more
wishing you could do
all those
things that made me smile
that finally did you in
into the ground
somehow knowing
you would not see me for
awhile

Life Death

Author: Brian O'neill

Poem: Life Death

Joe died from overeating
David cancer
Mrs Ferguson something
to do with old age attacked her

Vicky in full bloom
Ruth weeks to go
Aine in the waiting room
bump getting low

Joe to young to die
David even younger
Mrs Ferguson's family cry
grief like gnawing hunger

Met Seamus out for walk
Congratulate him on being Grandfather
Joe, David, Mrs Ferguson-we talk
Life, death and the hereafter
