Two Poems from our Funerals Poetry Collection

Life Death

Author: Brian O'neill

Poem:
Life Death

  Joe died from overeating
David cancer
Mrs Ferguson something
to do with old age attacked her

Vicky in full bloom
Ruth weeks to go
Aine in the waiting room
bump getting low

Joe to young to die
David even younger
Mrs Ferguson's family cry
grief like gnawing hunger

Met Seamus out for walk
Congratulate him on being Grandfather
Joe, David, Mrs Ferguson-we talk
Life, death and the hereafter

WAYNE THORNTON (Dec)

Author: Lee Emmett

Poem: WAYNE THORNTON (Dec)

Wayne Thornton played
hockey for Australia
and was a great team man
who never contemplated failure

at his funeral today
all spoke of him with love
generosity and patience
in relationships he gave

he was a wonderful coach
in sport, work and life
greatly admired by so many
family, friends, son, wife
