Two Poems from our Funerals Poetry Collection

LILIES AND DROPS OF CRIMSON

Author: Trent Greenan

Poem:
LILIES AND DROPS OF CRIMSON

  Wounds healed; scars gone.
Morning sun and dew stained grass.
Hypocrisy, speak again; your hour is at hand.
Bury yourself. Escape from bloody nails and splintered wood.
Hide yourself with malice.

Tear open the gates; breathe deep.
Sing the forgotten tunes,
Forget ancient transgressions; remember him.
Bring forth for one fleeting moment, your sorrow and reconciliation.
Cry without sin of brevity.

Final words said. Final tears dropped.
Black box covered with pain and wonder.
Sigh and relax. It is the end.
Have you lost him, or have you not yet met?
Hope reigns supreme.

TO YOU, MY SPECIAL FRIEND

Author: Tiffany Lima

Poem: TO YOU, MY SPECIAL FRIEND

You were great here,
And you were fine there,
But now you're gone,
At least from here,
And from there,
But you forgot one place to leave,
Right inside,
Instead you left the memories ,
And the the pain,
The grief is heavier than you were,
The memories bigger than space,
That coffin made to the best ability,
The clothes cost more than you made in life,
But you still look too cheap,
For all the things you did,
You have the most famous people here to see you,
The finest flowers surround you,
The pastor says the most elaborate things,
We all wish you could see it for yourself,
Funny how people act after one's passed away,
Don't we all deserve that kind of treatment alive,
Don't we all deserve the finest now,
But you always aknowleged you don't need that now,
You never do,
It's the thought that counts,
Although you were the best,
So I and everyone else,
Give you the best now,
Since we know you can't push it away like you did when you were alive,
Thanks for the best life and memories, girl.
