FRIEND'S SHOULDER

Author: Mary Bradford

Poem:
FRIEND'S SHOULDER

  Sometimes Life seems so difficult,
just one bad experience after another,
leaving us without answers that we
so desperatly need to hear.

Life has so many twists and turns,
that in times like these we have to rely
purely on our faith in God to see us through.

Often, during times such as these,
we are so busy living through all of
Life's heartaches that we forget to look
at the gifts that God has given us,
such as the shoulder of a
good friend to lean on.

If God only Blessed me with just one thing,
and that one thing was the shoulder
that you so desperatly need today,
then I would feel so richly blessed,
because I was the good friend who could
be here for you today.

THE SONG OF A DEPARTED SOUL

Author: Deepu Joseph

Poem: THE SONG OF A DEPARTED SOUL

As the wind blew against my cheeks,
It whispered something in my ears,
Something that the sun never knew;
And the moon never told.

Bow the sudden chill of melancholy;
A call from beyond the heavens,
A call for me to depart!

Night, like an audacious fiend
Had seized my life tonight.
In my mystery of sadness,
I just forgot how to cry.

The black moors beyond me;
Its silence in glory stillness,
Beyond awaits the stars;
Struggling to make me light!
As to the wind, to wipe my tears.

A look behind,
At the tranquility of the ocean,
Not knowing what it is to die!
Like a ship sans a captain,
I fly my kite high.
Not knowing where or why,
With tears I fly into the sky!

I know not the ashen calmness,
Nor the serene white cloud.
In its rain of cowardly distress,
I join my soul, depart!

Behind the veils,
Unseen but foreseen;
Awaits what looms behind!
To the one that told me to live,
I head for, to die!

Beyond the ties of an Ancient fold,
Arises a man without a soul
The one to whom I sing this song
A song of this departed soul
I strike my head to sing a song.
A song so hollow in desperate dongs!
None that you’ll hear throughout your life,
For one can’t dwell when once alive!

Curse the suns for my mysterious rime,
Disaster dwells by its rhyme!
Never in my life I’ve been alive,
To listen to the cries of the sacred chimes,
For my destined day did never lie!

But I’ll live by my ashes,
Till the day says die.
Never forever for the nation’s pride,
For the day did tell me to die!

Desperate hearts will find their way,
Out beyond the Bresterer’s Bay.
To live alive along with death,
Against that mourning fated day!
