Two Poems from our Funerals Poetry Collection

AFTER DEATH

Author: Grace John

Poem:
AFTER DEATH

  When I am dead
My earthen vessel breaks away
My inner being flees away
Who knows where I am carried away

As the dead dog is thrown away
So, is my body thrown away
To the graves mouth
Where worms cling to shrink

Oh, who will care?
To take me care
When I am there
In a lonely grave
No, no not one

Where is my name?
Where is my fame?
Where is my aim?
But all in vain
Not a gain but only a shame

SHE IS

Author: Shirley Autry

Poem: SHE IS

She is but sleeping you see
The whys matter not to you and me

She is but sleeping there
Within the quilted covers fair

Waiting for her Savior, her Lord
To wake her from her nap

Taking her on Heaven's journey homeward
Where no pain, no sorrow ever lies

No fears, no tears, only smiles full of love
Shall she have forever more above

She is but sleeping there
At last to be with her family dear

She is but sleeping you see
Happiness soon hers will be

She is but sleeping you see....
She is but sleeping you see....
