Two Poems from our Funerals Poetry Collection

MY DAD

Author: Lloyd Graham

Poem:
MY DAD

You touched our lives in so many ways,
With the things you do and say,
Each and every day.

You taught us wrong from right,
To fight the good fight,
And in life to take delight.

When things in my life seemed to go wrong,
You would come along.
Told me to hold my chin high,
That things would be fine.

When things were rough,
You told me to get tough.
But to always have compassion,
And to live life with a passion.

I will not say good-bye,
Just because you have died.
I will say that I am going miss you,
I am sure that you knew.

Life goes on,
Even if you are gone.
It’s never going to be the same,
It is a real shame.

You taught me to live like there is no tomorrow,
And to not wallow in sorrow.
To enjoy the time we have now

AMAZING GRACE

Author: Natalie Potter

Poem: AMAZING GRACE

IF I WERE TO TAKE YOUR HAND AND SHOW YOU THE
THE WONDERS OF MY PLAN
IF I WERE TO GUIDE YOUR FEET, MY COMMANDMENTS WOULD
YOU KEEP
IF MY ANGELS WERE TO ABIDE WITH YOU, MY WILL WOULD
YOU DO
IF I WERE TO BE YOUR GUIDE, MY WORDS WITHIN YOUR
HEART WOULD YOU HIDE
MINE EYES SHALL BEHOLD THY GOODNESS, THY FAITHFULL-
NESS FOREVER TO BEHOLD
MY GRACE SHALL FOREVER ABIDE WITH THEE, MY LOVE IS
FOREVER OF OLD
IF I SHOULD SHIELD YOU WITH MY MERCY AND PUT A
CHARGE UPON THEE, WILT THOU HIDE MY WORDS WITHIN THY
HEART SO THAT THOU WILT NOT SIN AGAINST ME
IF I SHOULD GIVE YOU MY AMAZING GRACE, WOULD YOU
FOREVER SEEK MY FACE
WILT THOU, OH WILT THOU, SERVE ME WITH ALL OF THY
MIGHT, OH WILT THOU LET ME TAKE CHARGE OF THY LIFE
KNOCK, AND I SHALL OPEN UP THE DOOR, AND THOU SHALT
NEVER HUNGER OR THIRST ANY MORE
SEEK, AND YE SHALL FIND, YOUR MANSION WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU IN HEAVEN AT THAT TIME
ASK AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN, YOU SHALL NOT HAVE ROOM
ENOUGH TO RECEIVE
FOR WHAT GOOD YOU SHALL SOW, THE SAME SHALL YE REAP
BEHOLD MY FACE, ACCEPT MY AMAZING GRACE, AND LIVE FOR
ME SO THAT WHERE I AM, MY CHILD, THERE ALSO SHALL
YE BE
