Two Poems from our Graduations Poetry Collection

TECHNICOLOR AUTUMN LEAVES

Author: Jen Stone

Poem:
TECHNICOLOR AUTUMN LEAVES

  Technicolor autumn leaves
Piano concertos carried
Through rippling trees
Like tambourines
Flocks of birds
Who don’t belong
Try to keep up
With sweet viola harmonies
Never ceasing
In the breeze
Technicolor autumn leaves

CARPE DIEM

Author: Dustin Bour

Poem: CARPE DIEM

I am finally a senior
There's no turning back
These four important years almost ended
When I was in an accident
But I fought back
And here I am now
Standing loud and proud
Taking senior pictures and picking out a gown
Planning the parties
Thinking of whom to invite
Because I might never see them again
Happy for this day
Everyone’s looking
In surprise as they announce my name
As I walk up their smile in all
With these final steps left
And my head held high
As they said it couldn’t happen
Which I showed them wrong
As they cried and clapped at the sight
I'm finally there
I've finally done it
I'm finally out!
