OUR TIME IS NOW

Author: Quinton Boykin

Poem:
OUR TIME IS NOW

This is our time to shine.
Some of us will be crying.
We came along way and we got through it.
Some of us almost blew it.
We had trials and tribulations along the journey.
Most of us are still watching Barney.
All the good times we had in high school will be in the past.
Our parents think we grew up too fast.
Thinking of all the friends we will miss.
Thinking about the first time we got dissed.
People are hugging us and saying goodbye.
We feel a tear run down our face and we begin to cry.
Never thought this time would come.
We thought coming to school every day was just dumb.
Losing friends that we had,
Thinking about them makes us sad.
We're playing games and having fun.
Somebody is trying to talk to you.
You wake up and you're stunned.
You're dreaming, thinking about kindergarten when you use to play, and run.
We're getting ready for another life.
Going on our own is going to be tough.
We think going to college is going to be rough.
We remember the time we got in trouble.
For sitting in class blowing and popping bubbles.
It's time for us to move on.
We're getting older we're almost grown.
Most of us can't believe we're almost gone.
Thinking about it makes us moan.
On May 25, 2004 some of us will jump for joy.
Most of us can't remember our first toy.
That doesn't matter anymore, we're glad that we made it.
Thinking about the people that didn't make it.
Remembering Daniel and wishing that he were here.
Remembering all the good times we had in class.
I will never forget Daniel's crazy little laugh.
Thinking about him brings tears to my eyes.
But, my tears stop 'cause I know he is in a better place.
When I close my eyes I always see his face.
I wish he were here to celebrate this day with us.
I never thought one of my classmates would be gone.
It's hard to deal with but I know he is gone on home.

OUR LITTLE GIRL

Author: Joseph Nicholson

Poem: OUR LITTLE GIRL

She's not so little any more.
The winds of time have blown and blown,
Our little girl is almost grown.
No more afro-puffs and pony tails,
Now it's curls and waves and fingernails.
The years went by oh, so fast,
But they were kind and what a blast.
Our little girl is not so little any more.
No more toys and make believe,
But proms and gowns and make-up, please!
To have you as a daughter is really a joy.
You're a beautiful person and you'll go far.
I wish we'd said we love you more,
And how proud we are of you.
We can only hope the little things
Say how much we really do.
Our little girl is almost grown
And one day soon may leave our home.
But as you travel far and wide,
Know that God is by your side.
Think of the good times that we've had,
And remember, you will always be our little girl.
Love forever your mom and dad.
