Two Poems from our Graduations Poetry Collection

OUR LITTLE GIRL

Author: Joseph Nicholson

Poem:
OUR LITTLE GIRL

She's not so little any more.
The winds of time have blown and blown,
Our little girl is almost grown.
No more afro-puffs and pony tails,
Now it's curls and waves and fingernails.
The years went by oh, so fast,
But they were kind and what a blast.
Our little girl is not so little any more.
No more toys and make believe,
But proms and gowns and make-up, please!
To have you as a daughter is really a joy.
You're a beautiful person and you'll go far.
I wish we'd said we love you more,
And how proud we are of you.
We can only hope the little things
Say how much we really do.
Our little girl is almost grown
And one day soon may leave our home.
But as you travel far and wide,
Know that God is by your side.
Think of the good times that we've had,
And remember, you will always be our little girl.
Love forever your mom and dad.

PROGRESS

Author: Vinay Jain

Poem: PROGRESS

So many roads, so many vehicles, so many bridges
Never before were there in this world
Never before was man
So utterly alone

So many doctors, so many diseases
So many weapons, so many fears

So many cosmetics, so little beauty
So many houses, so few homes
So many words, so little poetry
So many stones, so few sculptures
So many people, so few humans
So many occupations, so little work

Progress, if this be your claim to fame,
I bow before you in dread and shame!
