Two Poems from our Graduations Poetry Collection

SISTERS

Author: Sarah Mudhaf

Poem:
SISTERS

  For years we were together
side by side
facing joy and sorrow
forming friendship that will forever abide

we lent each other shoulders to cry on
urged one another, after hardships
to forget and move on

we shared ultimate love
that was engraved in our hearts
love, that will never vanish
side by side, or miles apart

soon, we shall part
but we'll always be near
in soul and in heart
we'll always we together
spirits, kindled forever

says who? that a family bond is one of blood
says who? there aren't sisters but in blood
we are, after all, sisters in all but blood

GRADUATION

Author: Jen Saunders

Poem: GRADUATION

Well, here we are, spending our final moments together
Looking back at the school waiting to see what happens
Hugs, kisses and wishes are what we’re going to receive
Choosing jobs and going to college
Now I’m looking through my yearbook and going through my things
Let's take time and share some memories from a better view
Remember sharing secrets in ninth grade, or playing for the sophomore league in tenth grade, or the beach party with other friends in the eleventh grade?
I even remember all the homework that we passed in on time
Time for graduation and sad times
Time to say good-bye and I’ll miss you
A time for jobs and a time for college
Waiting for the words:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, the Class of Two Thousand and Four”
One moment of silence, and one moment of pain
Many choices in life will be changing and starting tonight
Graduation, the time we’ve all been waiting for,
The time we all want to happen,
But there’s one thing that I won’t forget and that is you!
