Two Poems from our Happy Poetry Collection

AH! MY HEART

Author: Bhakta Giri

Poem:
AH! MY HEART

  My heart goes to bed
dashing, pushing
and mocking my wife,
who tends with great delight
until it slumbers.
Then on it, eyes of mine
do rest for hours
floating on all my dreams.
At six,
pokes and pricks me in bed,
till pushes me out.
Drops down to mimic
every stride of mine.
When I depart,
comes to threshold
babbles Bye! Bye!
Opening the casket
reveals tiny two little stars
enough to brighten day.
I behold it at work
and fidget to see it back.
When completely exhausted,
I arrive at the door
there comes it,
shadowing its mom.
Babbling…
hugs me sitting on my lap
clicking my refresh button.
Investigates like a policeman
probes a pick-pocket,
toddles off with some sweets
if not, satisfies with a pen.
Lost in his own world
starts to babble...
Mother smiles…
for her own reasons.

Ah! My heart,
works a miracle.

Mindy Melisma's Butterscotch Bandstand

Poem: Mindy Melisma's Butterscotch Bandstand

Mindy Melisma's Butterscotch Bandstand
(Part of: "Emmanuel Endorphin's Serotonin Sundae")
By: Noah Eaton
4/25/05

Mindy Melisma took the Butterscotch Bandstand,
with her thirty-six piece band,
the Bubblegum Spiderweb Temperament,
guava dusk skies lingered with peppermint,
she stood richer than a lucky Denver mint,
introducing her bacchanalian grandstand flabbergast,
with colorful uniforms all mismatched.

Nine drummers, seven horns, six bongos,
six pan flutes, two fiddles, two kotos,
complete with lyre, santoor and sitar,
Yue Qin, Quanoon and bass guitar,
Mindy made band mamber number thirty-seven,
with her solar-powered mandolin,
feelin' the music melts her hair mandarin.
.
.
She screamed, "Let's radiate this psychedelic clambake,
this lawn social is no coffee klatch,
this is a rainbow gathering of the first degree,
so whistle and sway your hands,
let's show this sweet world how we dance."
.
.
Mindy wore most of her hair down,
with a few strands moussed up over her head,
like a Triton Cockatoo,
sung with an ancient voice like that of Peru,
performing in her gold chiffon jumpsuit,
with a psyche resolute,
even through the twenty-five minute jam "Citrus Typhoon"
.
.
Her buttery voice giving everyone a butterscotch blush,
playing to the audience a game of Chinese Whispers,
happiness is just a way of living, so the music's open to interpretation,
and how this soiree has simmered,
it's got all the community simpered...
.
.
Mindy Melisma shook the Butterscotch Bandstand...
