Two Poems from our Happy Poetry Collection

JUST THE MUSIC AND I

Author: Natalie Soper

Poem:
JUST THE MUSIC AND I

My fingertips glide over the dusty keys.
Satiny and fragile,
They seem to draw me in.
The musty scent engulfs me.
Memories flitter around the ivory.
It is just the music and I.
An inaudible melody invites my fingers to play.
They dance across the pearly keys,
Splashing and drifting in and out.
It is true bliss,
Being reunited with an old friend.
My song swims through the air,
And it is just the music and I.
All other troubles melt away.
The music makes me feel like I want to
Cry and laugh,
All at the same time.
The whispering song comes from deep inside.
This is my sanctuary,
A place to love.
Where it is only
The music and I.

Now I Know You

Author: Kristine Trudeau

Poem: Now I Know You

I picture/hear this as a talkative, almost Broadway style song, used in a play.

NOW I KNOW YOU

They told me I was good for nothing
They told me my life wouldn't change
They told me there was no hope
I believed them
Oh, but now I know You

They told me there was no Heaven
They told me there was no Hell
They told me life doesn't matter
I believed them
Oh, but now I know You

They told me half-truths and distortions
They filled me with lie after lie
They spoke falsely, and
I believed them
Oh, but now I know You

Chorus:
Now I know You
Now I know You
Jesus, now I know You
My life is so different
With hope and love and truth
Because, someone introduced me to You
