Two Poems from our Holidays Poetry Collection

RAIN

Author: Pierre Barfield II

Poem:
RAIN

  When it start to rain
it feels like you're drowning
in the Lords pain.
Until the sun comes
and shines once again.
Smile.
Give him a reason to keep believin
that everything is unforgiven.
And I hold the Lord on a rainy day.
And pray to the Lord
when the skies are grey.
And let it rain on me.
While I cherish the air I breathe.
Where all angels that can't soar,
can't fly.
And only God knows why.

FINAL DANCE

Author: Mary Lawhorn

Poem: FINAL DANCE

Keeping company with the finest and the center
attention of all,
Her flickering light casting shadows as she dances across the wall.

No one can get close for she will burn them with
her flame,
But she is used to being alone although all the
guests came.

Days go by without being noticed as she sits
upon her throne,
For her light isn't needed now that all the guests
are gone.

But she will sit patiently, waiting until she can
dance once more,
Her final dance beneath the flame as her shadow fades across the floor.
