THANKSGIVING DAY

Author: Lindarae Connor shamblin

Poem:
THANKSGIVING DAY

THANKSGIVING DAY IS HERE AT LAST, AROMA DRIFTING FROM THE PAST.
MY KITCHEN FILLED WITH AROMAS, I'M LOVIN', THE GUEST OF HONOR IS IN THE OVEN.
SURE DOES MAKE THE KITCHEN HOT, AND BIG BIRD DON'T QUITE FIT THE POT.

I FOUND THAT TIN FOIL I DO LACK, SO I MADE DO WITH A PAPER SACK.
I'M SHORT OF PANS, HAVEN'T GOT A POT, AND SERVING BOWLS I HAVE NOT.
AND THAT AIN'T ALL THAT I DON'T GOT.

I DON'T GOTTA WORRY NONE WHERE MY NEXT HUG IS COMIN FROM, OR WHO WILL CALL ME MOM OR HON OR TREAT ME LIKE A FRIEND.

SO I'LL PEEL IT, CHOP IT, MIX AND FIX IT, THEN I'LL STUFF IT FROM BOTH ENDS.
IT DON'T MATTER WHAT I DON'T GOT, ON ME IT ALL DEPENDS.

FOR DINNERS THAT I COULDN'T FIX OR CRISPY CRITTERS IN THE MIX.
FOR UNDERSTANDING, LOVE AND CHEER THAT I RECEIVED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
FOR WHAT I HAVE AND I HAVE NOT, I THANK THE LORD FOR ALL I'VE GOT.

A DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

Author: Ronald White

Poem: A DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

On a glorious day,
the year 1776.
Arose a free nation,
where politics didn't mix.
It all began with a dream,
of only just a few.
To make this dream a reality,
they knew what they had to do.
To rise against a country,
so powerful and so strong.
Who, didn't want this dream,
and thought that it was wrong.
Thousands of brave souls,
fought hard and paid the price.
All in the name of freedom,
made the ultimate sacrifice.
So we honor those who died,
making our country mighty and vast.
With a day of remembrance,
of what happened in the past.
