THIS GOOD FRIEND OF MINE

Author: John Reardon

Poem:
THIS GOOD FRIEND OF MINE

I have this friend He is my guru,
He's interested in me and everything I do,
And whenever I'm troubled and I need to talk,
Like a true friend He's there and we take a long walk.
No problem's too big, no problem's too small,
He's always there to answer my call.
And His wisdom seems limitless, spanning all time,
And He's helped countless people this good friend of mine,
So we've grown very close, like a father and son,
And He's always there for me to lean on.
He's forever in my heart and forever in my mind,
And His name is Christ Jesus this good friend of mine.

LET THE DAWNING DAY COME.

Author: Bunmi Ajilore

Poem: LET THE DAWNING DAY COME.

Let the dawning day come
Let the dark clouds go
And let the sunshine throw
Into your heart,
A penetrating beam of hope
Permeating the dark crevices of despair and discouragement,
Created by vain longings for freedom and parity:
Freedom from stanchions imposed by archaic reasoning
Liberty from the shackles clasped by skin colour;

Let the dawning day come
Let the dark clouds go
And let sunlight scorch to death
All seeds of prejudice and hatred
Dibbled into the earth by subjugation and atomic war:
Wars caused by man’s manipulation of fellow humans to his ends
Prejudice instigated through the doomed seeds of superiority
Planted in young fertile hearts.
Oh! Let the dawning day dawn
Let the dark clouds go
And let the new day come
With its new of hope for all deprived.
