Two Poems from our Holocaust Poetry Collection

RAGE FOR LIFE

Author: Vinay K m

Poem:
RAGE FOR LIFE

  I remember the time
Fences making meaningless relationship

Barbed wires Cutting across mutual hearts
Animosity

I remember the time
Death closer to life

Greater Proximity

I remember it
Death lived so close to life, we played with it, sang with it, danced with it, made merrier jokes with all the rage for life
we failed
I remember the time
we failed to love each other

TITANIC NUMBER 2

Author: Joseph Josephides

Poem: TITANIC NUMBER 2

Have no illusions when invited to travel
with “Titanic Two”!

Watch the captain; keep him away
of empty glories;
if steamed by passengers he will fool
the engines.
Attention to the operator of wireless,
the aristocrats will steal his focus in duty,
bribing him to send signals ahead in America
"soon be there, everything is perfect”.

The iceberg is gaping.
Come out to see his teeth,
have early yourself be saved.
Are waters invading?
Do you hear? The sirens voice out seven times.
Again. Where the stoker has escaped?
The door is wide open only for the passengers
of the expensive first class; the lifeboats
do not suffice for the ignored poor ones.
Shooting five to ten bullets you impose the order.

Let the generous Sir Cosmo get in the lifeboat
let his secretary to enter, then hiw partners,
his wife included.

History gives birth to errors from an error seed.
Wake up, let their second lie be sunk
with its illuminations, with the orchestra
that was paid to offer amusement.

Come to yourself, fall in the ocean
of your own truth.
Keep on swimming. Found half-choked,
you are saved, but only in the hands
of juvenile Nafsika; hope still exists.
