THE GREY STALLION

Author: Maggie Powell

Poem:
THE GREY STALLION

  One night in my dreams
I rode a grey stallion
No leather nor rope did I use
O'er the moors and up the steep mountains
Not a step did that steel pony lose
Twisting and turning
Raging and burning
The fire of life in his eyes

He said come... come away
Let me take you on the wind
We'll fly away... fly away
From the torment of the storm we will sail
Let this power God gave us never fail

One day I was walking
I found the grey stallion
Human bound by leather and steel
Down city streets he carried man's burden
Fightin' to stand did he reel
Beaten and broken
Silent... unspoken
The ember of death in his eyes

I said come... come away
Let me take you on the wind
We'll fly away... fly away
From the torment of the storm we will sail
Let this power God gave us never fail

That night in my arms
I held the grey stallion
No leather nor rope could he feel
Alas... beyond my reach
His breath drawn heavy
Slowly to death did he yield
Beaten and broken
Silent... unspoken
Cold marble ice were his eyes

I said drift... drift away
Let him take you on the wind
You'll fly away... fly away
From the torment of the storm you will sail
Let this power God gave us never fail

Dark night down the ages
My body old and failing
Dying... alone in fear
When out of the mist appeared a grey stallion
Come to take me home
Twisting and turning
Raging and burning
The fire of life in his eyes

He said come... come away
Let me take you on the wind
We'll fly away... fly away
From the torment of the storm we will sail
Let this power God gave us never fail

THE RED BEAUTY

Author: Apoorva Rao

Poem: THE RED BEAUTY

The swift, red beauty,
the glowing red coat,
the beautiful eyes,
and those ears.

He is fast as lightning,
with those powerful legs,
he seems to prance
when he trots!

The red coat shines,
golden in the sun,
he looks like fire,
from where I watch.

Those beautiful eyes,
stare adoring at me.
His eyes filled with trust and love,
as he protects me.

Ears upright,
as straight as the ruler.
He stands there alert,
to hear for any danger.

The red beauty stands there,
guarding me day and night.
No one can seperate our bond,
that is deep down our hearts.
