Two Poems from our Horses Poetry Collection

THE RED BEAUTY

Author: Apoorva Rao

Poem:
THE RED BEAUTY

  The swift, red beauty,
the glowing red coat,
the beautiful eyes,
and those ears.

He is fast as lightning,
with those powerful legs,
he seems to prance
when he trots!

The red coat shines,
golden in the sun,
he looks like fire,
from where I watch.

Those beautiful eyes,
stare adoring at me.
His eyes filled with trust and love,
as he protects me.

Ears upright,
as straight as the ruler.
He stands there alert,
to hear for any danger.

The red beauty stands there,
guarding me day and night.
No one can seperate our bond,
that is deep down our hearts.

THE BLACK FOAL

Author: Apoorva Rao

Poem: THE BLACK FOAL

Just given birth,
to a little foal,
the mare licks him clean.

The young foal opens his eyes,
with curiousity,
he is weak but very clever,
and starts nursing his mama!

Clever! Clever little Foal!
So young but so wise,
He is as black as coal!

I show myself,
to the young foal,
He looks up with adoring eyes,
that I have never seen before!

He takes his first step,
towards me,
without hesitation he comes,
He's brave! He's Wise!
He's the cutest foal!

Days go by,
He grows big and strong,
He doens't need his mama for milk,
Oh no! He can survive on his own!

Now he runs as fast as wind,
the best horse! He is!
This second he is at the racetrack,
running wild and free!

Soon he is old,
and retired from racing,
he is the father of another foal,
that is born to this world.
