BIRDS OF PREY

Author: Ganapath-agraharam Kannan

Poem:
BIRDS OF PREY

Birds of Prey They Call Us,
Birth is Not Your Right Or Mine,
I Reach Those Heights Which You Cannot.
And I Lay My Eggs From Your Reach.
My Beaks Are Curved To Catch And Take Fishes
Over Long Distances.
My Chicks Are Ever Hungry Like You.
I Search For Rodents To Feed Their Hungry
Stomachs.
Condor Some of You Call Me To Differentiate.
Eagle Some of You Call Me To Pronounciate.
Vulture Some of You Call Me To Infatuate.
But To The Birds of Prey, I am the King.
Without Me, You Will Be Bitten To Death
By Rodents & Crawlers.
Do Not Bother Me OR ELSE, You Will Be
Boomeranged With Your Own Actions To
Destroy Me.

IS EVIDENT

Author: Mandika Gibb

Poem: IS EVIDENT

Before yielding to his physical and touching
it with human hands
Introduce to me to his words that he is evident

Imparting wisdom and language beyond
earthly treasures
where etchings of his intentions are drawn out
by his lyrical chanting, delicately making all
other music extremely adverse

Let me not feel his spirit not before I hear it
living in his voice accented by the stroke of
his pen translated into tongues that all can comprehend
Greet me first with his words that he isn't transient

Reward my inexperienced fingers that they browse
his tattered leaflets becoming a familiar slant
The way his letters curve giving birth to his verbal
brilliance

May his gift always be shielded from the pangs of
silence and his thoughts maintain resilience
manifested in their entirety
on sheets of sparkling silver with lavishly
printed tints
Introduce me to his words that his is evident
