I'VE LIVED A GOOD LIFE; I'VE LIVED A GOOD DAY

Author: Christine Scull

Poem:
I'VE LIVED A GOOD LIFE; I'VE LIVED A GOOD DAY

  Give me, a day....
blue skies, sunlight.
Give me, a night....
with clear stars, so bright!
Give me, a garden....
rich soil to hoe.
Where I could see flowers,
and vegetables grow!
Give me, a drink....
when I'm in great thirst!
Give me, a child....
of healthy, new birth.
Give me, a song...
that touches, my heart.
Give me, a love.....
that never shall part.
Give me, a world...
where all wars would cease.
A world full of love!
A world full of peace!
Then, I could say....
I've lived a good life!
I've lived a good day!

PEOPLE BANK

Author: Michael Webster

Poem: PEOPLE BANK

Delicate footsteps across the vibrant web,
the balance of life mastered with experience.
The choices are beset by the a time gone before mine,
stray from the path or continue to indifference?
Each as daunting as the other uncompromising.
A treacherous fork to unaceptance or monotony.
Education dictates the preferred destination
but the black sheep of the flock can also be the free.
As the rain of fear greets the day with me,
I have lost sight of the choice I made in that sheltered summer shade.
All those reasons have spread their wings of wisdom
and have flown back home to settle in the nest they once made.
Now, even though the rules seem so distant
my actions and convictions still bare the scars of society.
A soul brandished at birth with toleration
now flees from the self-destructive plague of morality.
Wind filled sails carry me to the edge of my own sanity
while the maps of lucid thought have perished into insignificance,
leaving me to the mercy of the tranquil tides.
Far out of reach from the mighty preachers of perseverance.
The ones who remained now realize their destinies
and the painful truth that they are much less than worthless.
The panic stricken populus that were once so righteous
now deposit their lives into the people bank and walk out soulless.
