COME WALK WITH ME
Come walk with me through the heart of Africa
Let’s take a journey to a land of the wild Acacia
To the tall grasses where lion and elephant roam
To where the leopard hunts in his moonlit home
Come walk with me through our golden sunset
Drink a wild Amarula as your world you forget
Watch the crocodile snatch a springbok for prey
With a thrashing of his tail in a glistening spray
Come walk with me through an African village
Where the hum of bongos are the ears spillage
Watch Zulu warriors dance with their assegais
Whilst bare-breasted woman chant at firesides
Come walk with me and let’s camp in the veldt
Light bonfires; hear the wild calls that are spelt
The hyena’s cackle, as the distant jackals howl
A rogue elephant plunders at the hoot of an owl
Come walk on high mountains that kiss a cloud
And in deep gorges where rushing rivers crowd
Come hide with me in the great Baobab caves
Ignite your hearts and become Africa’s slaves
